Imposter experience, also known as imposter syndrome is not a diagnosis or a character flaw, but a common experience that many people face. For purposes of clarity, I am going to call it imposter syndrome throughout, with the understanding that it is something you experience.

Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their own accomplishments and has a persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud, despite evidence of their competence. People with imposter syndrome tend to attribute their successes to external factors such as luck or help from others, and often feel like they don’t deserve their achievements.
They may also feel like they are not as capable as others think they are, and worry that they will be found out as a fraud at any moment. Imposter syndrome can have negative effects on self-esteem, career performance, mental health and overall well-being. Although imposter syndrome can be a pervasive and debilitating experience, it can be managed a variety of ways.
